Why We’re Exhibiting at a Manufacturing Show
Digital Landscope isn’t a manufacturing company, so you might wonder why you’ll find an
SEO and AI search agency amongst manufacturers, engineers and supply chain businesses.
The answer is pretty simple: manufacturing businesses need to be found too.
We’ve worked with B2B companies across manufacturing, engineering and technical sectors,
where the buying journey can be very different from a typical consumer search.
Potential customers might be looking for a specific product, material, manufacturing
capability, technical solution or supplier. They may carry out several Google searches
before making contact.
Increasingly, they may also ask an AI platform to help them research the market.
That creates an interesting challenge for manufacturers:
how do you make sure your company is visible at the point where that research happens?
SEO for Manufacturing Is Changing
Traditional SEO remains hugely important for manufacturers.
If somebody searches Google for a product, supplier or manufacturing service that you
provide, you want your website to be visible.
But search behaviour is expanding.
Buyers can now ask questions such as:
“Which UK manufacturers can produce this component in low volumes?”
Or:
“Find Scottish manufacturers that supply sustainable packaging for industrial businesses.”
Instead of typing three or four words into Google, buyers can provide an AI platform
with a detailed description of exactly what they need.
This is where SEO, Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) and Generative Engine
Optimisation (GEO) begin to overlap.
What Is AEO for Manufacturers?
Answer Engine Optimisation is about making information about your company,
products, capabilities and expertise easier for search and AI systems to understand and retrieve.
For a manufacturer, that could mean making important information much clearer across your website.
- What exactly do you manufacture?
- Which materials do you work with?
- Which sectors do you supply?
- Where are your products manufactured?
- Which areas do you supply?
- What accreditations or certifications do you hold?
- What makes your manufacturing capability different?
- Can you provide evidence through projects, technical content or case studies?
These questions are useful for prospective customers, but they’re also important pieces
of information for search engines and AI systems trying to understand your business.
What Can You Ask Us at the Show?
You don’t need to arrive at our stand knowing what AEO or GEO means.
If anything, we’d rather you came over with a real business question.
For example:
- Why isn’t our manufacturing website generating enquiries?
- Why are our competitors above us on Google?
- How do we rank for more of the products or services we provide?
- Does ChatGPT know who our company is?
- How do we get mentioned when people ask AI for supplier recommendations?
- Can SEO work for a very niche B2B manufacturing company?
- How do we measure our visibility across AI search?
We’ll be happy to talk through what you’re currently doing and where there might be
opportunities to improve your search visibility.
Ask Us How Visible Your Company Is in AI Search
One of the most interesting conversations we’re expecting to have at the show is around
AI search visibility.
Search for your company in Google and you’ll probably have a reasonable idea of how
visible you are.
But what happens when somebody asks ChatGPT or another AI search platform to recommend
companies in your sector?
